Following is the artist’s statement about this work:
"This piece was made in the spring of 1952 when I was a senior at Glenville High School. It was given as a gift to Mary Mosgo, my art teacher who I have alway recognized and acknowledged as being responsible for launching my career as an enamelist. The petit dish is not a masterpiece but does have historical significance; where I made it, when I made it, why I made it. The inscription to Miss Mosgo is signed Friedson which is how she always addressed me."
